In fact, there’s only one thing missing to really make a winter break in London Bridge complete, and that’s a spot of ice skating.

After all, London is as famous for its winter ice rinks at this time of year as it is for its abundance of historical landmarks and attractions throughout the rest of the calendar. Naturally then, we couldn’t let our guests come by this winter without experiencing the delights of gliding across the ice, surrounded by beautiful scenery, with the smell of hot, delicious food and drink wafting from the nearby pop-up cafes, and the occasional inspiring chorus ringing out from a traditional brass band.

Thankfully, they don’t have to miss out at all, as our London Bridge luxury apartments are nearby to some of London’s best winter ice rinks.

Looking for a place to skate when you visit us over the next few months? Here’s our pick of the top places to go.

winder-wonderlandHyde Park Winter Wonderland

Hyde Park, W2 4RU (Open daily from 10am to 10pm)

Let’s start with the big one, shall we? Set off an adventure across London this December, and you’ll find yourself in the glorious surroundings of Hyde Park, lovingly transformed -as it is every winter- into a beautiful ode to all things festive.

We covered Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland in detail in last month’s guide to the top Christmas fairs in London, but what we barely touched upon, was the venue’s lavish ice rink.

Known as the biggest open air ice rink anywhere in the country, Hyde Park’s skating facility also happens to be one of the most magical, with twinkling lights guiding skaters around a traditional Victorian bandstand.

Live music plays regularly from said bandstand, and you’ll also find a heated spectators stand, where hot drinks are available.

Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Less than 30 minutes across the capital from our luxury apartments in London Bridge sits the Natural History Museum, an essential part of any London city break regardless as to the time of year.

When winter falls however, this majestic building transforms itself into a breathtaking backdrop for one of Central London’s most beautiful ice rinks.

Boasting a thousand square metres of ice, with a smaller rink available for younger children, the Natural History Museum really go all out during the festive season.

Those who prefer to stay off the ice will have a variety of winter warmers to choose from in the Cafe Bar, where a live band provide rousing entertainment every Thursday evening.

You’ll even find a traditional fairground carousel on site, making this the perfect place to spend a magical winter’s evening.

Broadgate Ice Rink

Canary Wharf Ice Rink

Canada Square Park, E14 5AH (Open daily from 10am)

Easily accessible via tube from our London Bridge luxury apartments, Canary Wharf’s grand-scale ice rink is -as its name implies- actually much closer to our corporate accommodation in London’s thriving business district.

That said, regardless as to which of our seven Central London locations you’re staying at this winter, the Canada Square ice rink its wholly unique aesthetic.

Surrounded by Canary Wharf’s famous towering buildings, the ice itself will be lit up with over 8K of sparkling LED lights, adding a certain futuristic atmosphere to proceedings.
